David E. Lekan, known to everyone as Del, was born on March 20, 1965 in Fairview Park, Ohio.  He is the oldest son of David T. Lekan, the founder of First Security Mortgage Corporation, and Joyce M. Lekan.

        At the age of 5, the family moved to Hinckley, Ohio where Del attended Hinckley Elementary School and Highland Middle School, both part of the Highland Local School System.  During these years he was a Cub Scout, he played Pee Wee football, he learned how to play golf, and he learned to care for and show Arabian horses through 4-H Clubs of Medina County.  He attended Parma Padua Franciscan High School, where he participated in football, basketball, golf and volunteered in community service.  Del graduated from Padua Franciscan High School in 1983 as an Honor Student and went on to further his education by attending Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business.  He is also an alumni of the Alpha Nu chapter of the Sigma Pi Fraternity at Wake Forest.  Upon graduation from Wake Forest University in May of 1987, he returned home and started work immediately with the family business, First Security Mortgage Corporation. 

        Del learned his business by starting at the bottom.  He began by observing the origination, the processing, the underwriting, the closing of mortgage loans, and then assisted in the shipping of closed loans to investors.  He was then given a list of names of real estate offices and real estate agents and told to generate loan applications on his own.  After all these years and after thousands of loans made, the interaction and relationship building with his clients is still the part of his work that he enjoys the most.  Del says: “It still gives me goose bumps when I see that I have been a part of helping a person achieve their dream of homeownership, or helping them take a step closer to reaching their financial goals.  It’s very rewarding and it doesn’t get any better than that.”

        Del was married in 1995 to his wife Cheryl and then was blessed with his daughter Sarah in 2004.  He is a fan (and critic) of all of Cleveland’s professional sport teams, and enjoys playing golf, drums and traveling with his wife Cheryl to warm tropical places.

        Del is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA), Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association (OMBA), the Greater Cleveland Mortgage Bankers Association (GCMBA), Cleveland Area Board of Realtors (CABOR) and the Medina County Board of Realtors (MCBOR).

        Del is available for Pre Approval Consultations by appointment during normal business, as well as in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate his customers busy schedules.
